Bus crashes are among the most harrowing kinds of wreck we see on the road of Georgia. Although they are less common than car crashes, serious bus incidents often involve more than one casualty. In Fulton County, a driver was charged after a Georgia church bus crash.

Recently, at least one person was killed and more than 20 were injured in a crash involving a church bus and two cars in south Fulton County.

Police later charged the church bus driver after this serious crash near Atlanta.

Investigators said the church bus overturned and landed on one of the cars on Camp Creek Parkway at Merk Road.

one killed, tow injured in Georgia church bus crash

Georgia church bus crash proved to be fatal

A report in Atlanta Patch stated the church bus had a youth group and their chaperones from Mount Zion Baptist Church in Huntsville on board when it was in a collision with a Mercedes on June 8.

Police claim the school bus driver who was traveling east, crossed a median and entered the westbound lanes.

The impact killed Sarah Harmening, a teen from Alabama. It also sent many people to area hospitals including Atlanta Medical Center South, Grady Memorial, and Southern Regional Medical Center.

The driver was charged with vehicular homicide and failure to maintain lane, news reports stated. He was also injured in the crash.

Every year, people are killed in church bus crashes. Earlier this year in Texas a serious crash involving a church bus killed 13 people.

A report on CNN stated a pickup truck hit the church bus in March. The pickup crossed the center line of a Texas highway 19 times and veered onto the shoulder 37 times, according to an initial report from the National Transportation Safety Board.

The CNN report stated the pickup truck driver told investigators he took prescription medications before the crash. Several medications, as well as marijuana, were discovered in the pickup truck at the crash scene, the report stated.

My thoughts are with those injured in these crashes and with the families of those who lost their lives. When crashes involving buses occur either a bus driver or another driver is usually to blame.
