Books have been written on why you need a will. Today, we will just look briefly at two reasons why you need a will or a trust.
First, you need a will if you have children. You alone should make the decision who becomes guardian over your minor children and trustees to manage their property. If you do not leave a will the court may appoint someone who you would not have chosen.
Second, if you own a home. In Georgia, without a will your heirs may become co-owners of your home or property. They will have to manage this together. They may not be able to agree on how to manage the property and may live great distances apart making this a difficult task. This will cause your heirs to spend vast amounts of money and time to handle your estate. A will would save money, time, and heartaches for your heirs.
